Time travel becomes a possibility in Tamil

Today, Tamil cinema will see the release of a novel attempt — a time travel movie, something which has hardly been tried out in Kollywood. Director Ravi Kumar's Indru Netru Naalai, starring Vishnu Vishal, Mia George and Karunakaran, is a comedy that revolves around the concept of a common man getting his hands on a time machine. The film is expected to be a trendsetter in our industry because the makers have taken care to root this concept in our culture and make it easily accessible to the layman. However, the concept has been successfully tried out in Hollywood for many years. Here are some five Hollywood time-travel films that have balanced inventiveness with entertainment.

The Terminator
It is many years into the future, and machines have taken over the planet, but there is a resistance movement by humans that is proving difficult to squash and so, they send a humanoid — the Terminator — back in time, to kill the mother of the leader of the resistance so that he will not even be born.

Back To The Future
A sprightly teenager is transported to the days of his parents' college days after he gets into a time machine built by his crazy scientist friend. With the time machine broken, he must reach out to the scientist in the past and convince him to repair it, while also trying to get his parents to fall in love.

Looper
In a future where mobsters send the targets who have to be eliminated to a pre-determined location in the past where a hitman lies in wait to murder them. One day, a hitman realizes that the man who he is going to murder happens to be his future self!

Hot Tub Time Machine
Three loser friends and their nephew go back to the ski resort which was their hangout place during their teen years. A hot tub, which happens to be a time machine, transports them to a day in the year 1986 — a day which had transformed their lives forever.

Mr. Peabody & Sherman
A genius, talking dog adopts a little boy and together they travel in a time machine, having the wackiest of adventures
